Educational Objectives and Healthcare Profile

The Bachelor's Degree in Osteopathy at Link University provides the scientific foundations and the theoretical and practical preparation needed for professional practice in osteopathy within the Italian system. The three-year degree program (Class L/SNT4) is designed to train professionals specialized in the manual treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunctions, integrating traditional medical knowledge with the specific approach of osteopathic medicine.

The Bachelor's Degree in Osteopathy at Link University is designed to train professionals able to improve people's quality of life through effective and personalized osteopathic treatments. The learning pathway therefore includes:

  • Solid Scientific Foundations: acquisition of a strong background in anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics of the human body and its main pathological conditions.
  • Excellence in Clinical Practice: development, through laboratories and internships, of the manual skills required to perform osteopathic assessment and treatment.
  • Holistic and Integrated Vision: promotion of an integrated view of the person, aimed at supporting the patient's physical and psychological well-being.

Academic Structure: Duration and Organization of the Degree

The Bachelor's Degree in Osteopathy lasts three years, for a total of 180 ECTS credits, and is divided into six semesters combining theory and practice:

  • First Year (Foundational): focused on scientific foundations and introduction to osteopathic practice.
  • Second Year (Clinical): systematic study of pathology and learning of specific osteopathic manipulation techniques.
  • Third Year (Professionalizing): focus on specialist competencies and completion of the pathway through clinical internship and final assessment activities.

The study plan includes foundational training, core disciplinary subjects, and specific professional learning activities such as seminars and placements, some compulsory and others selected by the student. Preparatory laboratory activities for internship training are also an integral part of the degree.

Core Competencies of the Osteopathy Graduate (L/SNT4)

The learning pathway at Link University is structured to ensure that graduates in Osteopathy acquire a high-level set of clinical and methodological competencies essential for working safely and effectively in the modern healthcare sector.

At the end of the degree, graduates will be able to:

  • Clinical and Differential Assessment: correctly identify indications and contraindications for treatment, carrying out in-depth evaluations through postural observation, perceptive palpation, and specific osteopathic tests.
  • Treatment Planning: accurately apply advanced manual techniques aimed at restoring osteo-articular mobility and recovering the patient's functional balance.
  • Prevention and Health Promotion: actively educate patients in the prevention of musculoskeletal dysfunctions, promoting healthy lifestyle guidelines and correct ergonomics.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: work effectively within complex healthcare teams, collaborating with specialists, physiotherapists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals for the overall care of the person.

How does the admission test work?

Admission is restricted and based on a local selection procedure. The test consists of multiple-choice questions in logic, general knowledge, biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. The annual call for applications specifies the exact number of places available for the campuses of Rome, Città di Castello, and Novedrate.

Can I transfer from another degree program or have previous exams recognized?

Yes. Students may request an evaluation of their previous academic career, for example from Sports Sciences, Physiotherapy, or other healthcare-related degree programs. The Academic Committee assesses previously earned credits for possible recognition of exams and admission to years beyond the first, subject to place availability.
