Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy
Educational Objectives

The Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy is designed to provide a solid scientific foundation and the theoretical and practical preparation needed to practice as a physiotherapist. Both theoretical and practical learning activities are structured to develop specific professional and behavioral skills, ensuring that students achieve full mastery of the competencies required for the profession and can apply them immediately in the workplace.

Degree Structure and Learning Path

The Degree Program in Physiotherapy (Class L/SNT2) lasts three years and includes a total of 180 ECTS credits. Its curriculum integrates scientific foundations, clinical methodologies, and progressively increasing professional autonomy.

  • First year: Foundational and introductory
Focus on biological, biomedical, and neurophysiological foundations. Students acquire the essential principles of the discipline, including kinesiology, biomechanics, and hygiene, needed to begin the first orientation internship and develop core competencies.
  • Second year: Clinical and rehabilitation development
Dedicated to the study of adult orthopedic and neurological conditions. Through internships in clinical settings, students develop manual and relational skills while applying the best available scientific evidence through Evidence-Based Practice.
  • Third year: Professional, specialist, and management-oriented
Focused on specialist areas such as pediatrics, cardiovascular care, critical care, and oncology, as well as teamwork in complex settings. Students take on greater operational responsibility under expert supervision and acquire elements of healthcare management and research methodology for the final dissertation.

Practical Training Focus: Clinical Internship

A key strength of the degree is its immediate integration with healthcare institutions of national importance. The study plan includes 60 ECTS credits of internship, with a workload that gradually increases from the first to the third year in order to accompany students' professional growth.

Thanks to strong partnerships, such as the collaboration with the Provincia Religiosa di San Pietro – Fatebenefratelli and healthcare facilities in the surrounding area, students have access to high-quality clinical training sites. To ensure the highest standards, internships are carried out with a 1:1 tutor-to-student ratio in the neurological, orthopedic, pediatric, and cardiorespiratory areas, allowing students to develop relational and manual skills directly in the field until they achieve full operational autonomy.

Teaching Methodology and Educational Approach

Graduates in Physiotherapy acquire adequate preparation in the basic disciplines, which is essential for understanding the main elements underlying both pathological processes and recovery processes, on which rehabilitative and therapeutic intervention is based. By the end of the degree, the physiotherapist must be able to treat patients with a wide range of conditions, define appropriate rehabilitation programs, and identify the most suitable physiotherapy intervention, using not only profession-specific techniques but also relational and educational components when necessary.

In addition to these core skills, physiotherapy students are expected to know at least one European Union language other than Italian within their field of competence and to possess the skills necessary to read and critically evaluate published work for general scientific exchange.

The degree includes 60 ECTS credits of clinical internship distributed over the three years, with a 1:1 tutor-to-student ratio, ensuring personalized and practice-oriented learning.
